As you probably figured out from the name or in the OOC Thread, this is a thread for rules questions and clarifications. Use it well, and use it often. I'll try to respond in a timely manner to all questions, if others don't beat me to it.

I know this is probalby somewhere else but how do the success rolls take place during the game? I know its a rediculous question but please bear with me.
How about using Karma... how do you advance your character? Can you do it during a slow time during a run?
Is there a limit on how much stuff one can stash in a small apartment? don't worry, there will be more.

When you hit reply and the page comes up for you to respond, look above the message field, where you'd type. Above the smilies you'll see a row of buttons. Way down there on the right, the next to last button, you'll see an image of a die. The number of times you click that will be the number of die you'll roll in the post. For example, I'm going to click it three times: [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] And it'll randomize a result and insert it in the post. Many people go back and edit their posts to show the results and how many hits they got. As for karma, I'm not real sure how to make improvements myself. I have a character that just got 5 karma, and I have no idea how to go about spending it, even if I could figure out what to do with it. But you can ask JDragon and I'd be able to tell you, as well as PsuedoDragon. Also, whatever you realistically think would fit in a small apartment will. No, you cannot park your car in it. Yes, you can fill it with groceries and gear.[rand=682244184369449189035981733511921873739659798174808872107223546921]

KARMA....
Please understand this is all as I understand it, do not take it as gospel.
Depending on the length of the run, most of the time you will only get karma at the end of the run based on how well you/the group did.
There are rules in the book starting on page 263. The basic idea is that you will do the "training or work" needed to improve during the down time between runs.
It has a chart that lists the karma cost to learn what ever you want to improve or add to your character and has some guide lines on how long that should take.
Hope that helped.

Hey Orinsfire... no question is rediculous to me because I probably have the same ones... I've played SR only one time in real life and am new to the game world and game mechanics. ;D

Some questions on "Threading".
#1- Does it take a simple/complex/free action during combat to do this? The core book doesn't mention it taking anytime to do, but I'd like to make sure.
#2- The core book says it requires concentration to maintain (Much like a mage maintaining a spell) causing a -2 dice pool to all rolls. This doesn't include the roll to use whatever complex form you are currently Threading does it? It wouldn't make much sense to Thread anything if it did.

#1. -- As a GM, I am going to say Threading is a Complex Action due to analogous evidence. Spellcasting and Conjuring are both Complex Actions for spellcasters. Compiling a sprite is a Complex Action for Technomancers. Given the streamlined nature of the magic and matrix rules, I'd say that Threading is a Complex Action.
#2. -- Yes, that's a -2 to ALL tests while you sustain a Complex Form. That might seem a little awry, but consider this: without the various Complex Forms, you cannot even perform the Matrix action. How are you going to decrypt somebody's wifi signal without a Decrypt Complex Form? How are you going to hack your way in through a node's back door without an Exploit? Also, look at the benefits a registered sprite gives you. Among them, they can add their rating to any Complex Form (I've also ruled that this can be any CF you have at rating 0 as well), or sustain a CF FOR YOU so that you don't have to suffer the -2 due to sustaining it yourself.
Technomancers are not as good as mundane hackers straight out of the box (or chargen.) Learn to use their sprites wisely in order to assist you where you fall short. That's the key to using them correctly and efficiently.
